Choose three words to describe your volunteering experience with Sahara Foundation.

Exciting, Interesting, and Inspiring.

What has been your favourite part of being a volunteer?

The Vision Boarding session and that point where we had to decide on the winning team. It was a very tight one.

Sahara Foundation two focus areas are ‘Access to Energy and Sustainable Environments. Share your thoughts on what this means to you.

Sustainability improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem, and preserves natural resources for future generations. Regardless of who we are, where we live, and what we do, we all have a moral obligation to each other, our future generations, and other species to sustain the planet. Our present choices and actions have huge long-term impacts on future generations. Practicing sustainability ensures that we make ethical choices that bring a safe and livable future to everyone.

What social causes are you most passionate about?

Fighting poverty – It’s so disheartening to know that about 478 million people live in extreme poverty in Africa. It’s certain we cannot help everyone but let’s do the little we can to help each other. Let’s be our brother’s keeper.

Do you know about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? And if yes, what do you think Africa must do to achieve the SDGs?

About (SDGs) Yes, in September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the principle of “leaving no one behind”, the new Agenda emphasizes a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development for all.

Few amongst them are No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good health, Well-Being. etc.  In my opinion, the bottleneck to achieving this in Africa is Bad governance, and what needs to be done is simple. Get rid of bad leaders by voting them out. The ball is in our courts we must play it wisely and remain ‘Obidient’ to the laws that govern us as well.

What message would you like to share with others about becoming a volunteer?

Being a volunteer made me interact with a diverse set of age groups. Identify potential and enhanced my social interactions.
